Kingdom Truth - Recruitment of the Overcomer
Prologue
The book entitled ‘Great Learning’ is one of the famous Chinese Classics known as the Four Books. The first chapter of ‘Great Learning’ says: “Only after the end goal is known can the desire of pursuit be settled, ...only after thoughtful deliberation, can perfection be achieved.” It also says, “Trees have roots and branches. Events have their ends and beginnings. When the order is known (which comes first and second), he is quite close the way (truth).” These are the golden rules used throughout the ages in China to rule kingdoms and empires. In order to 'achieve', one must know the ‘goal’. When a person knows the goal, then his direction of pursuit can be set. Then, when a person handles things and treats others will not be like shootings arrows aimlessly and much to do about nothing. Knowledge is acquired in this manner. Ruling begins with oneself first, then the family next, then the country and finally the empire; spiritual growth is also achieved in the same way. The difference being that the former is attained through one's self-efforts and they often lead to mirages in the end. The latter is “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Phil. 4:1) With the presence of Christ in one's life, all ventures are profitable and there is victory in every battle! Praise the Lord! Then what is our ‘goal’?
Our ‘goal’ is to accomplish ‘the will of God’. It is because the Scriptures tell us that “And the world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God abides forever.” (I John 2:17) The will of God can be for an individual or corporate. However, the goal is none other to accomplish God's desire for creating man - to rule over all the works of His hands. (Heb. 2:7) In order to have this accomplished, those called must be chosen to be overcomers. For only overcomers can sit on the throne with the Lord. (Rev. 3:21) Who are the overcomers? Scripture tells us that they are not only called but they were chosen. They were chosen because they were faithful! (Rev. 17:14) The reason being that only the faithful ones will have the Master’s confidence to rule over many things. (Matt. 25:21, 23) Praise the Lord!
Dear overcomers, how excellent and glorious is this heavenly honor in eternity? It can only be completely understood on that day when Christ returns! Unfortunately, even now there are quite a lot of Christians in the churches in the orient and the west who love the Lord but do not know what is God's ultimate goal in saving them! They thought that to believe in Jesus is only to go to heaven! They do not know that the gracious Lord saved us not only to deliver us from darkness and into light. Moreover, after we are saved, He wants us to be chosen. Since there is a choosing, there has to be testing. All testing must be preceded with equipping. This book is written for the purpose of equipping. May the readers become skillful in equipping oneself through this book and fulfill the goal of His gracious calling. Or in other words, in order that we may inherit the Kingdom prepared before the foundation of the world. (Matt. 25:34) For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Phil.1:6) Amen!
